Musician’s Log. Stardate March 5th 2010

Locked myself in my Grandparents house all day Wednesday with nothing but my laptop, my guitar and my sexy Bluebird microphone to record.

Spontaneously though, I ended up writing a new song right at the start of the session. It’s so cheesy and fun, it was just something that popped into my head and I went with it.

It’s Farscape inspired!!

It’s called I Like To Yell, although that may change. I’d like title suggestions!! Anyway, it’s about my love for saying the word “frell”. There’s a rough mix up on my myspace page. Let me know what you think!

I finally recorded Time, recorded the guitar for another song and now I’m enjoying mixing the tracks. Will be a week or so before I’ll like the mixes but it’s fun doing it.

Artwork

So I decided to make some artwork for the newest tracks that have gone up at myspace. I thought I’d post them here and also preview the art for the next songs to go up once I’ve finished recording and mixing them

My favourite out of all these has got to be the Girl and her Wolf artwork, mainly cause I did those trees myself. On paint!! The girl on the artwork for Destructo Girl  is actually the character “Goth Girl” that I created as part of my “Goth Girl and other misfits” art that I’ve been drawing for years… maybe I’ll use some of the other characters I created in the future on other artwork. But I drew her. Yup.

All artwork was created by me, using paper, pencils, pen and paint (the software)…. and photoshopping some items (i.e. the clock and guitar case)

New songs up at myspace

More updates for ya:

This morning Destructo Girl, an actual recording, went up at myspace this morning.

It’s a song about a girl who feels really low and underwhelmed in life and doesn’t realise that she has more potential than she knows. I wrote it after a conversation with a friend who was unsure of what to do next in their life and was feeling rather helpless.

This is my favourite song out of all the songs I’ve written. Listen out for the reference to the person I find a lot of strength and inspiration from. (Pat Benatar)

Also, a studio recording of Girl and her Wolf  is now up, replacing the demo that I’d originally put up. Inspired by the wonderful webseries Riese, it is another song of strength.

Night Terrors music video!

I finally finished it! I did it! Wow, I feel accomplished. It only took…. well, let’s not go there.

Please enjoy the video. It was made by Power of Two productions (namely, me and my cousin) and I really love the artwork that was created for it. I love drawing, so being able to combine that with my much larger passion was a real delight!

Let me know what you think. It’s a really poor animation attempt on our part, but it resulted in no production costs!

What’s his line? (SG-1 style)

What were Daniel, Sam and O’Neill talking about and what did Daniel ask O’Neill just before the timeloop commenced? After playing a round of “what was Daniel’s question?” in Stargate SG-1’s Window of Opportunity, myself, @mynameisme91 and @rebeccavoy came up with the following possibilities (all preceed his “what do you think?”):

“I’m sick of you two dancing around each other, kiss already! I’m sorry but that’s just how I feel about it… “

“Do you really think you’re fooling anyone? We know so why don’t you just get it over with?”

“You know when he asks you to go fishing he doesn’t mean it the same way as when he asks me and Teal’c? Right Jack?”

“You two should get hitched. Anyway I’m sorry but that just happens to be how I feel about it.What do you think?”

“What, it was a secret? Oops, my bad. I thought everyone knew. Don’t they?”

“Fishing? Come on who are you kidding!”

“So I heard some rather odd noises coming from the storage closet near Sam’s lab. Anything you wanna tell me?”

“Jack, you’re lookin’ rather hot and sweaty. Been busy?”

“Fruit loops Jack? What are you three??”

“So Jack, Sam gave me a lift into work this morning and I found a yoyo tangled around her rear view mirror..so?”

“Why don’t we all go fishing this weekend? What’s with the look you just gave Sam?”

“So Jack, perhaps you could explain why Sam’s chosen to wear turtlenecks all week…”

“So, ah, Jack… care to explain the blue tongue?”

“So Thor mentioned something about giving a warning next time he beams us up…any reason why that would be?”

“Sam, you smell like old spice… Don’t you wear old spice, Jack?”

*peers* “Ah Jack? … You’ve got a bit of – what is that, lipstick? Behind your ear… Colour looks familiar.”

“Jack,is that an ink stain on your sleeve? Sam,last week didnt you spill ink on your shirt. Ahh I saw that look!”

“How do you throw your back out fishing?”

“Guys what the hell is that thing on Teal’c chin!! Its scary!!”

Ah, shippers. We have fun, don’t we?

New demos

Hey guys and gals,

Ballad of Carter went up last week. I wrote this song last year in October/November when attempting to write a song about something else… isn’t that always how it goes?
Well, this was around the time I started a Stargate SG-1 marathon and well, as all shippers know, you just want Carter and Jack to get it on!
I swear that I was trying to write a song about someone else but I just couldn’t get one particular line outta my head so I decided to write the rest of the song as if it was being sung by Carter.
I don’t own the rights to the characters, I’ve not used any names (except in the title) and this was just for a bit of fun. I’ve put it up for other Gaters and shippers to enjoy.

Girl and Her Wolf was inspired by the fantastic web series Riese. I wrote the song this afternoon so it could get changed but at the minute I really love it.
Sorry for the sound quality. I had to record them on my phone. However, I hope to have a better quality versions  coming for y’all soon

Happy New… Weekend?

I’m a little late on the happy New Year but I hope it’s being good to everyone!

I’ve been lazy, I got a new tattoo on my wrist last week so I’ve not been playing guitar as much because of it. I’m going to get back to writing new songs this week, especially considering I’ll have access to studio equipment once again.

Hoping I’ll finally have some more recordings for y’all. I’m working on Destructo Girl, Time and Getaway so hopefully they won’t be too much longer.

Good luck with 2010. I hope we all do amazing things!
